Dr. Dennis Morrison brings more than 30 years of experience spanning business banking, economic development, performance auditing, business consulting, and higher education. His professional background includes more than 15 years of business banking experience with Security Pacific National Bank and Wells Fargo Bank, and more than five years with the County of Los Angeles Auditor-Controller Department in a performance audit role. He also served as Assistant Director/Acting Director with the U.S. Small Business Administration's Small Business Development Center Program, where his responsibilities included SBA loan prequalification and advising businesses facing operational, financial, and cash-flow challenges.
Dr. Morrison has extensive experience teaching undergraduate and graduate business courses, and his small-business consulting work has been featured in the Los Angeles Times. He earned a bachelor's degree from the State University of New York at Brockport, a master's degree from Syracuse University's Maxwell School with a specialization in international finance, and a doctorate from the University of La Verne's College of Business and Public Management. His doctoral research specialized in the risk management of sovereign external assets and liabilities, including the use of financial derivatives such as futures, forwards, options, and swaps to manage interest-rate risk on reserve-currency denominated external debt and international oil price risk.
He is a member of the National Association for Business Economics and the Association for Corporate Growth and holds membership in the Harvard Business Review Advisory Council, an opt-in research community of business professionals. He founded STG Dorian-James in 2002 to bring his multidisciplinary experience in finance, business strategy, economic development, public-sector performance audit, and international markets directly to clients navigating complex strategic and financial decisions.
